Why Elder Bloom Exists

Many older adults experience increasing isolation, reduced mobility, and limited access to meaningful daily engagement. At the same time, caregivers often carry significant responsibility without consistent opportunities for rest and support.

Elder Bloom Wellness Society is working to change this.

We are building a therapeutic day centre where older adults can participate in meaningful activities, build relationships, and maintain a sense of purpose—while caregivers gain reliable, dignified respite.

Elder Bloom’s program model is grounded in recreation therapy principles, supporting individuals through meaningful engagement rather than passive care.

Our approach focuses on participation, autonomy, and connection—creating opportunities for individuals to maintain identity, build relationships, and experience a sense of purpose in their daily lives.

Programs will be inclusive and adaptable, meeting individuals where they are while supporting overall well-being in a safe and welcoming environment.

Purposeful group and individual activities supporting social, cognitive, physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

A full day of support—designed around participation and well-being.

Accessible Transportation

Door-to-door support to reduce participation barriers.

Dignity-first assistance to help participants feel safe and comfortable.

Reliable day support that caregivers can plan around.

A community-built model with a clear path to launch

Elder Bloom Wellness Society is currently in the development and fundraising phase. Our work to date has focused on community engagement, partnership building, and planning for a sustainable day centre model.

A Day at Elder Bloom

Individualized, Flexible & Person-Centred
This schedule is an example of what a day at Elder Bloom could look like. Activities will be adapted to individual interests, abilities, needs, and energy levels, with opportunities for choice and participation throughout the day.

As our centre grows, we plan to introduce smaller group and concurrent activity options, allowing participants to explore their interests, make meaningful choices, and engage in ways that best support their independence, autonomy, and well-being.
